How to Join 1st Subiaco?

We welcome applications to join 1st Subiaco Scouts.
We offer Cubs, Scouts, Venturers and Rovers.
Due to the popularity of 1st Subiaco Scouts, we do have long waiting lists for our Cubs and Scouts sections.

Joining Details and Community Engagement

How do you join Subiaco Scouts? Here are some essential details:
  • The Program is open to boys, girls and young adults aged between eight and twenty-six years of age.
  • To become a member you will need to contact our membership officer at the postal address below.
  • We also value engagement in the Scouting community by parents and believe parents can help enrich the scouting experience for both scouts and themselves. At our annual open night we set out a range of tasks requiring assistance and ask for parent volunteers. We try and match the task with the parent’s skill set. For example, we are currently looking for a website content manager and this would be ideal for someone who works in web design or content development. We value new parents and look forward to discussing how you can get involved in the Subiaco Scout community no matter how large or small.
  • We also look for new leaders. We understand not everyone can become a leader and, like most things in life, the more you can contribute to the community the more you and your children will get out of it, so there are many ways you can support the group. Becoming a leader is one of the most rewarding and you are welcome to discuss this option with one of our existing leaders.

Waiting List and Joining Policy

Due to a large number of inquiries, quality of leadership and popularity of the programs at 1st Subiaco, we currently operate on a waiting list for Cubs and Scouts.

This is the formal policy on the waiting list:

  • The waiting list is reviewed at the commencement of each school term.
  • Our current 1st Subiaco policy on priorities for entry is:
    • Children of leaders.
    • Younger sections moving to older sections ie. Cubs moving up to Scouts.
    • Siblings of current members.
    • New members with parents willing to contribute to the Subiaco Scout community.
    • Time spent on the waiting list.
